Modifications to Tournament Prize Structure with Imprisoned Heralds Release

As many of you know, website site tomorrow is new release launch day.  I revealed a lot of exciting parts of the release in my viagra Multi-Forging, buy more about Elite Tournaments, and more!” href=”http://solforgegame.com/news/new-features-coming-to-solforge-sharing-multi-forging-elite-tournaments-and-more/”>last article and there have been many exciting previews all over the web.

Most of this news was received well by the community, but there was a lot of concern about the new tournament structure.  We introduced new tournaments to support casual players (Casual Drafts) and to support top tier players (Elite Tournaments) and restructured our prizes to be more flexible (silver rewards) and with a flatter payout structure.  This flatter payout structure has the consequence of making it harder for top tier players to “go infinite” by earning back their entry fee so they can keep playing.  While we maintain that it is critically important to support players at all skill levels, as professional card game tournament players ourselves, we understand this concern for not having enough rewards for our top tier players.

In response to community feedback and in consultation with several members of our community, we are modifying the tournament reward structure to better serve our competitive player base.  The casual draft payout will remain the same, but the competitive draft now both gives out more total prizes and is more “top heavy” giving more for players going 3-1 in the event.  An excerpt from our patch notes is included below with all relevant information on tournaments post patch.

As always, we will continue to monitor the community and the tournament queues to determine the best path forward for the community as a whole.  We appreciate everyone’s feedback and hope that you all enjoy playing with all the new features and cards in tomorrow’s release.

Am I the only one who noticed that technically, if a F2P player gets enough to enter an elite tourney and manages to 6/0 the tourney, they win 20K Gold, even after never having put gold in at all? I mean, that’s a crazy goal to attain, but freaking awesome if you do it.

Thank you SBE for listening to us :-D. I too am much happier now that I can 3-1 my way to happiness in the Competitve Drafts :-D.

Thanks SBE, this looks MUCH better!

I still think the payouts should be half currency and half tickets (to incentivize tournent play) and more importantly they should be in gold for gold tournaments (to incentivize spending gold, because right now i don’t see me spending any gold on tournament queues). The half/half payout would also make sure that no one gets more gold out than they put in, which would of course be bad for you.

Thank you so much for listening SBE!! With the exception of no gold payouts for gold entered tournaments I feel you did a FANTASTIC job modifying your changes to the tournament payout. The way it was structured there was no incentive for playing constructed tournaments. Now, it is still a little worse than before (but before was admittedly very generous) so I am happy that the new payouts still make it worthwhile to participate in constructed tournaments. Very exciting news that you not only listened to the community but acted so quickly. Well done.

Thank you for adjusting the payout structure! I’m sure you have made a LOT of players happy.

The only thing I am still bummed about is that it will cost about $5 per draft if I want shareable cards. It will keep me from drafting non-account-bound very often at all. I wish it was cheaper, it would still be a reasonable price at $2-2.50. I think people would play even more if it was cheaper, earning more money for SBE in the long run!

This is incredibly awesome news. SBE, thanks for listening. I was still determined to put my time and effort into this game with the changes previously outlined, but I was really worried about how it would affect my motivation ahead.

I was one of those that was not quite infinite (2-2 and 3-1 average, with the occasional dips and spikes of the bell curve), and I was spending $5-$10 regularly to restock my tickets, but with the previous changes, I expected my motivation would flag when it came to re-upping. Now I see that a re-up will give me enough decent return that I can hit the tourneys, lose my share, and still feel good about plugging in my cash when I lose steam. I’m so okay with this. I love this game, and you all have done a great job juggling all the permutations.

    Wheeeeeeeee!

Putting the name Casual on something does not make it casual. The phantom draft queue was the payout to make steep, with an infinite option. New and casual players are more likely to want to keep the extra cards.
