Solforge Servers Update

Posted in News on by

As many of you already know, we announced that we would cease development on the current version of SolForge and that servers would not be maintained after 1/31.  This announcement was the hardest I’ve had to make in my career, but the outpouring of support from the community has been amazing.

Thanks to support from the community, along with technical support from executives at Grinding Gear Games, we may have a solution that could keep the current game running for the foreseeable future.  We are currently working on an attempt to migrate Solforge to a smaller server, allowing it to stay online and protect everyone’s current collections and ability to play.

There will be interruptions in play over the coming weeks as we determine the feasibility of this project.  There are no guarantees, but we are hopeful that we can make a sustainable version of the game that can keep this community alive even as we work on future iterations of the game we all love.

My thanks to the entire SolForge community but in particular to Brian Weissman and Chris Wilson from Grinding Gear Games who are personally helping to fund and manage this transition.

    This is great news!

I believe the best support would be for every player to invest a little bit of money, every month once to purchase some gold. However, small the amount maybe it can help to keep this game alive. I will be doing that.

    Keep it up guys!

I deleted the app in mid-January and can not re-install it. I am on i0S and have sent an email to and I still have not received a reply nor can i get the app back on my phone. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -chilledjam

Can’t you just give it to Kael so it can be properly taken care of instead of just sitting doing nothing? You guys screwed the pooch to epic proportions, you know you’re never going to fix this game how it should be, just give it to the community.

Even though this is great news and Im happy :)
You dont seem to adress the issue.

Just try 1 more simple thing to make it a succes:
    Update the starting decks,
give new players a change to win!

and give each players 100 packs when first starteing the game.
What do you have to lose, you need more players.
And much more you need staying players.

The number 1 reason this games player base dosent grow is because the game play for new players is horrible, they get slaughtered no matter what.

That is great! Does this mean it will go back up in the App store as well? I went to put it back on my iPad to try and play games when it was ending but I couldn’t find it.

Well here to hoping the new server build is much more functional and costs 1/10 as much per month to run at least. That would hopefully be enough to keep the game running on its own at least. And the massive amounts of improvements needed can be hashed out along the way.

This is more than good news. Just have a look on GGGs own game and what they’ve done out of it. They have definitely some brilliant heads inside the company and I hope that they will relaunch Solforge some day with their own meta-game.

That’s wonderful news! I love Solforge and have for years, so the opportunity to keep playing would be amazing. It’s a wonderful game, the core is so much fun to play. If the new client hadn’t mucked everything up, I think Solforge really could have gone places. Maybe it still will someday, in some form or fashion. I can only hope.

So thank you for this gift to the Community, and thank you for all the years of fun I had playing Solforge far more often than I should have!

On a related sidenote, is there any chance to be able to get offline play like there used to be? So we can play the basic version even if the servers don’t continue?
