Very confused by the timing on this, surely SolForge requires a lot of attention?

We will see.

That's kind of the point of this Kickstarter, though. It's so they can meet the promises they've made with Ascension while not distracting from SolForge development.

I'd love to have the same functionality that SolForge will have for Ascension.

I hope there will be changes as well to how you MM as well, random PUGs and game center is fine and all but I'd like some kind of ranked play.

I feel sad for my Ascension boxes lol, my Immortal Heroes has only been played once… I wonder when Immortal Heroes is gonna come out for mobile as well, before or after all of this?

They are building up a lot of back-end infrastructure on PC and android for SolForge (e.g., network multiplayer, single player campaign, tournament support). I imagine that someone at Stone blade said "Gee,I wish we had someone with the free time available to adapt this new infrastructure for use with Ascension" … Kick starter could aloe then to hire folks to leverage their SolForge work to make Ascension more awesome.

Yeah, that would make sense to use the same back end. :)

For some reason I start getting paranoid about stuff like this. I worry that, for instance, Stoneblade has concerns the Solforge launch will be a flop, so they want to get the kickstarter of Ascension in ahead of people figuring that out.

I don't think you need to worry about SolForge being a flop.  At least, I know I'm doing everything in my (limited) power to make sure that it isn't.  There's also a lot of people backing the project and the game itself is of a sound design.  I think we're going to see something great with SolForge. :)

Everything that I understood from SBE's PR people was that the goal of this Kickstarter was to fulfill the old promise of Android Ascension.  As Noetherian mentioned, I think SolForge development is actually going well enough that they think it would be more advantageous for them to bring the entire project in-house instead of licensing it out to Playdek.  The purpose of the Kickstarter would then be to hire more programmers to make that transition happen faster.  All of this stuff is going to happen, the question has always been of how soon.  Extra funds means sooner.

I'm really hoping there will be some reward tier in this campaign aimed at existing iOS Ascension players. Maybe some exclusive promo cards or something? I don't have an Android device or a PC (lifelong Mac apologist), but I'd take any reason, however thin, to contribute to anything Ascension. I love that game so much.

It's great to see Kickstarter used for it's true purpose above and beyond a simple pre-order for stuff that was possibly getting made anyway.

I'm assuming that the Solforge funds will help with Ascension Online and vice versa. I'm a huge Ascension fan, and it's fantastic to see such a relatively modest game is leading to some serious innovation in the collectible card game arena (and card games in general).

Much kudos to Stoneblade for trying to breathe new life into the industry.

The Kickstarter is live.  And I have to say, those glimpses of future SolForge make me cry tears of joy!  Also, that intro video is hilarious :P  Good luck on raising the funds SBE!

I know I am going to go with the Treasure Hunter Pack, but right now I am highly debating on going with the Collector's Pack instead…

Pledged $400. It's a lot but quite a bit of value. The collector box looks sweet.

if you watched the KS video for this project.  They're doing this kick starter so they could hire a new team for Ascension that can do alot of the backend work while the the Solforge team finishes up their releases.

I don't know if this is in the pipe. but I would like to see GaryGames\StoneBlade entertainment buy the Licence back from playdek eventually so they can run update progress on the IOS app for Ascension.  it's going to be hard to convience Playdek to Update their app to work on the Ascension Digital backend without making it a (large) in app purchase. and they hardly make enough money on it to push a real update to the base application (it's 3$ for base and large exp, 2$ for small expansion, 1$ for promo packs) seeings how it only really gets new downloads when it goes on sale for 0$-1$, and existing players only really drop money on expansions when they're released.  And if this version comes out without the IOS support it's going cannibalize the subscribership of the IOS app.  I know that i've pledged 100$ to this KS just so I could get free expansions for life.  my hope is that this will eventually be for the IOS client I use.

and because you can never ever please everyone on the internet.  I've recently bought several new mac's to replace dead-dying PC's in my house.  I would like to see solforge and ascension online eventually get a Mac App.

Does anyone knows of a good tutorial for the game? I'm trying to figure out if it is the kind of game I would like and thus support.

You can call me Eldros. Feel free to send me untimed challenge at EldrosKandar for pseudo phantom draft. (List of test drafters)
