Hello, I started playing So forge many years ago, but quit after the new UI update… I just couldn't get behind anything.  Too many changes to the cards I had "owned" for years, UI was too different, and overall it just didn't feel like the same game anymore.  It quickly turned into an unenjoyable experience.

Please please please, consider bringing back the old pre-update version of Solforge.  Maybe even do a fork of the game.  I truly feel that a lot of players who felt isolated or ignored would return.  I know I would… because as of now, I don't even want to install the game.

I would even pay for the old version to return. I never bought gold, nor cards, but I immensely enjoyed the old game.  I would gladly pay for that enjoyment once again, and I don't think I'm alone.

If they did that, I'd probably go back to playing it a lot more. I really enjoyed the old UI, bugs and all! I could actually see the cards. It was simple in a good way, and also very visually appealing.

I agree.  Old UI was a thing of beauty. And especially being able to play several games at once.  Something no other TCG has.

Good luck with this. The community has been pretty much screaming for this since day one of the new UI.  I too would return if they did this.  Also, the return of Vs AI dailies as well has been a major request as well since this new UI but they do not seem to care. Them not caring about what the communities wants is why we are in this state of the game.

You might be interested in KUSC. It uses a lot of the original client assets. It is however in early development so a lot of features are missing.

Not gonna happen, they just don't want to admit they made a huge mistake.

The new client works 10x better than the old one ever did, Although new one does look like crap and removed some features for no reason, goign back to the old one is suicidal, people really enjoyed being able to make like 1 move every 30 seconds on old client? its silly to request this, why not just ask them to put thefeatures you miss back into the new cleint?

For me, the new client is not 10X better.  It may be more efficient, as far as coding and the program execution, however for the design, game-play, changes to cards I had for years, and the overall feel, just doesn't entice me at all -- I got hooked on one game, then it morphed into something else.

That's why I started this thread, asking if there is anyone else who would like to see the return of the original game.  No amount of feature additions would do anything for me.

I know that UI design and its appeal can be subjective, but if so many people stopped playing after the major UI overhaul, apparently I wasn't alone in my assessment.

It's Business-101, that to find out what the customers want, you ask them…. unless you're Apple, then you just tell the customers what they want.  Since there are other online CCG's, drastic changes can cause your players/users to explore different games/platforms; and I think that's what happened with SolForge.

Again, I'd join a kickstarter to bring back the original Solforge.  I'll be hoping for the day, where we see the return of "SolForge: Origins", or something.

I remember back in the day that the creators of Master of Orion 3 first started off asking all the fans what they wanted. It turned out to be a dreadful game, actually the only Master of Orion game I never finished a game in.

On topic: While the old UI was good to play, and had some features the new client misses, I still do like playing the new client, although, probably due to the smaller player-base, pairing up can take some time.

The new client works 10x worse on ipad, which is where I play 99% of my games (and others play on ipads or iphones too).

OLD CLIENT: Could read cards in your hand. Double tap to look closer. Could see names of cards.
NEW CLIENT:
-Have to awkwardly use 2 hands to try to hit 'Show more' even though the button moves around if my hand isn't perfectly still.
-Half of the card tooltips are the wrong card, and another 1/4 of them don't even pop up.
-Can't read the names of the cards my opponent has, so unless I recognize every single picture, I have to use the tooltip on each one (and as I said above, it only works half the time, so oftentimes I am SOL)

OLD CLIENT:
Could challenge multiple friends at a time, without waiting for someone to accept to send a challenge to someone else. 'Next Game' button.
NEW CLIENT:
-Have to wait for one friend to accept before I send another invite, and it may take them a day to find time to do so.
-Main screen doesn't tell me if it's my turn, I have to go all the way into the game to check.

OLD CLIENT: I could see the entire card while it was in my deck. I could make changes, change my mind, and when I switched decks I got the prompt 'Do you want to save changes?' so I could fiddle with decks without worrying.
NEW CLIENT:
-If I tap a card to look at it, unless I hold it long enough for the entire card to pop up, it will remove it from my deck. I just want to see what it does. I should be able to tap cards without removing (that's what the + and – options are for).
-If I make changes and don't want to keep them, I can't switch to another deck without saving. I only have the option to save or autofill. I want to be able to make changes and not save them. Exiting the game doesn't work.
-Related to above, I can't switch to a different deck to fiddle with without saving. So if I fiddle with one and want to try looking at a different one, I have to save my changes. Exiting the game won't work. I just want to be able to switch between editing decks without saving any of the changes.
SIMPLE SOLUTION: Replace 'autofill' button with 'switch decks'. It gives the prompt: "Do you want to save changes?"

OLD CLIENT: Very beautiful, fantasy feel.
NEW CLIENT: Stale and boring. The game is far more fantasy leaning than sci-fi. 3 of 4 factions are fantasy.

I didn't really have a ton of issues with the old client, just a few things that could have been better. If I had a preference, the old client worked much better. I played it daily. Now I don't feel like trying to play a game that is so frustrating. Nothing works. Wrong tooltips, can't easily see what cards are on the field, and deckbuilder doesn't work (not being able to switch decks without changing and cards being removed when I touch the name are dealbreakers). Deckbuilding used to be my favorite thing. Now I don't play much. If the old client came back, I'd jump back into it.
